Covid-19 Announcement

Out of an abundance of caution and in support of the community’s efforts to contain and slow the spread of COVID-19, beginning Monday, March 23rd, all in-person speech, language, and audiology testing services have been suspended at the UNT Speech and Hearing Center until further notice. Online speech and language teletherapy sessions will be available to all patients.

Thank you for your understanding during these unprecedented times. Your health and safety are our highest priority.

The UNT Speech and Hearing Center, is offering a multidisciplinary clinic for auditory processing assessments and interventions directed by Erin Schafer, Ph.D., CCC-A and Lauren Mathews, M.S., CCC-SLP. This clinic specializes in individuals who are diagnosed with autism spectrum disorder as well as any child with normal hearing who experiences listening difficulties.

  2. Consultations on remote-microphone technology: One appointment to assess hearing sensitivity, determine functional processing, and demonstrate hearing technology. Often done with children who are unable to complete the full auditory processing test battery, but could benefit from the technology in noisy environments.

  3. Auditory processing interventions
    1. Home- or clinic-based auditory training
    2. Computer-based auditory training at home
    3. Remote microphone technology

Cost: The total cost of the appointments will depend on the test measures your child is able to complete. We can contact your insurance company to see if there is any coverage.
